Long-time LI industrial broker Shelly Friedman dies

Sheldon (Shelly) Friedman, a popular industrial real estate broker on Very long Island for almost 4 a long time, died Wednesday at the age of 88. 

During his occupation, Friedman worked as a broker for a number of firms, including Schacker RealtyColdwell Banker CommercialIsland Realty and Greiner-Maltz. Among the hundreds of industrial transactions he was concerned in, Friedman brokered bargains for these types of companies as Goya Foodstuff, Executone, Roadway Packaging and Bactolac Prescribed drugs, and many others. 

Born in Manhattan and elevated in Brooklyn, Friedman acquired a degree in accounting from Long Island College and begun his business profession as an accountant for Windsor Knit in New York City’s garment district, eventually becoming a vice president of the corporation. 

In 1978, Friedman was recruited into the commercial genuine estate brokerage enterprise by Ron Lazar, a previous associate at Schacker Realty. After stints at other brokerage firms over the years, Friedman became the industrial leasing manager for the Heartland Business Centre, from which he retired in 2014. 

A previous president of the Commercial Industrial Brokers Culture of Extensive Island, Friedman will be remembered by genuine estate colleagues for his warm temperament and experienced ethics. 

“My father cherished developing interactions, which is a thing that turned out to be critical all through his job as an industrial serious estate broker,” reported his son Gary Friedman, a husband or wife at Schacker Realty. “He beloved to be a part of and actively take part in small business, charity, music, and civic groups wherever he could meet up with and link with new people. Schacker Realty President Phil Shwom called Shelly Friedman “a gentleman of uncompromising integrity, professionalism, and skill,” and the variety of broker you’d want your household and mates to operate with.

Schacker broker Ralph Perna said he knew Friedman for around 40 years. 

“He was always a incredibly dependable, hardworking specialist,” Perna stated. “We will miss out on him.” 

Exterior of his brokerage career, Friedman enjoyed performing with community theater teams and was energetic in civic and organization businesses like the local chapter of B’nai B’rith for which he served as president. Friedman also participated in food stuff deliveries to seniors for Challenge HOPE. 

Friedman is survived by his wife Deanna Robbins Friedman children Joy Fallick, Gary Friedman, Lesley Rosenthal and Kenny Friedman stepchildren Maureen Robbins, Brian Robbins and Randi Solis and 12 grandchildren. 

Charitable contributions in Shelly Friedman’s memory can be designed to the Temple Beth El Music and Cultural Arts Fund and the Parker Jewish Institute.
